UK Seminar on Rromani History and Culture

Gypsy Roma Traveller History Month and The Greenwich Borough Traveller Education Service, in conjunction with the University of Greenwich presented
All Change! Recent Debates over the history and origin of Roma/Gypsies/TravellersThe seminar took place on the third floor lecture theatre of the King William Building,
Old Royal Naval College, University of Greenwich,
between 10.30am and 4.00 on the 3rd June 2008.
Among those who contributed to the discussion were:

The Contribution of Linguistics" Dr. Adrian Marsh, of the University of Greenwich,
on narratives of origin and the Romanlar/Domlar/Lomlar Gypsies and Göcebe/Gezginler/Abdallar Travellers of Turkey.
Mr.Valdemar Kalinin, of Camden Traveller Education Service,
on The construction of Romani History in the former Soviet Union.
Mr Damian Le Bas Jr. of the University of Oxford on The possible implications of diasporic consciousness for Romani identityIntroduction was by the Chair,
Mr Gregory Kwiek, Stockholm University Institute of Ethnology,
and Chair of the Romano Pasos Research Centre
